When was the last time you got really present with another human being? When was the last time you lent an ear without an agenda or a distraction? Incredible things happen, when you really listen. Here's how to do it ...
Find a family member, a friend, a co-worker, a stranger or absolutely anyone you feel drawn to listen to. Approach that person.
Start talking to your human of choice and work your way up to the question: "What's an important thing on your mind lately?"
When they tell you, listen. Really listen. Don't talk, don't advise, don't affirm or negate. Just listen for 9 minutes (or more).

Anyone and everyone: Family, friends, coworkers, someone on the subway or at the park, a telemarketer, a person in line with you at the grocery story, the neighbor in the elevator, and everyone else. Yes, absolutely everyone is someone to listen with.
This is an experiment. It is about listening much longer than you’re used to! Find out which question makes your friends and colleagues talk. Try inviting, short questions and comments such as: Really? That’s fascinating! What happened next? Did you? Try sitting in silence. Try wondering what they’ll tell you next.
Oh, they’ve always got more to say (even if they don’t think they do). Try gently asking “Tell me more..” or “What else?” “How do you feel about that?” And, time and again, silence.
Take a look at the video again. Or look at the three simple steps above. That’s all there is to do. You ARE brave enough. You wouldn’t have read this far if you weren’t.
Hm hm, we would love to hear more about this. We might love to explore the potential in your life with you. Again: ready to go experimental? What if you opened your eyes to fellow humans who might enjoy to be listened to? Maybe there are shy opportunities who need you to see them? Maybe it could be pleasant thing to do on a Sunday afternoon to go out and discover opportunities?
You are really brave! Yes, that’s a good one. What about asking someone: Would you mind to listen to me when I think aloud on a question that bothers me? Would you mind to simply keep listening without advice or interruption for ten minutes? I’d be so happy to do the same for you. Bravo, bravo, if you dare asking this you are our hero.
